A process, not a destination.

Most advice tells you to love yourself like it’s a command or a final destination you’re supposed to reach. But for many of us, that feels out of touch and impossibly intimidating.

Self-love isn’t a trophy to win; it’s a garden to tend. (And I’m a sucker for a theme.)

In gardening, propagation is the act of taking a small cutting of a plant and giving it the right environment to grow its own roots and become a whole new plant. It’s a slow, rhythmic cycle of trial and error. This newsletter is about applying that same patient curiosity to our own lives.

Here, we focus on the process

We start small. Cultivating curiosity through art, science, and history, and see what they can teach us about being human. We also acknowledge that growth doesn’t happen in a vacuum and explore how to create a lifestyle and a headspace that actually allows us to take root.

Propagation is sometimes painfully slow (Have you ever tried to propagate a snake plant?! It takes forever!), and it’s okay if some of the cuttings don’t take. We use the knowledge we’ve gained, and we try again.

Every week(ish), I send out a note designed to help you breathe a little easier: A look at something interesting, like a study on mental health, art, or a scientific discovery, to feed our big, beautiful brains. I also sprinkle in honest reflections on parenting, sobriety, and self-acceptance.

Propagating Self-Love

A process, not a destination.
